Suggested alternative word options are accompanied with sample expressions to aid in the decision process For any word that Ginger automatically corrects it also provides a list of alternative words that could possibly fit into the sentence context. These alternatives are accompanied with sample expressions containing the words, enabling writers to understand what the word means, see and hear how it is used in context, and learn how the word sounds. Writers are able to differentiate between the alternatives and make informed choices, rather than guessing.
Correction Edition within the Ginger Toolbar Writers are able to edit Ginger’s suggested sentence within the Ginger toolbar. When they click ‘Approve’ the edited sentence will replace the original sentence within the document.
Customizable Ginger Toolbar The customizable interface, allows for the change of the toolbar display attributes such as background color and font style to complement each user and their preferences.
Text To Speech (TTS) The Text-To-Speech (TTS) functionality enables users to hear sentences before and after correction, as well as alternate corrections and their definitions. The TTS also provides auditory feedback enabling users to hear their errors and their corrections. The words are highlighted as they are read aloud so users can associate the sound with the spelling and learn the correct pronunciation of the words.
Frequent Error Reporting Ginger Software’s Frequent Error Reports contain statistical analyses of the users’ most frequent errors, listing them in two categories: spelling mistakes, or grammar mistakes and misused words. The number of words and sentences corrected, and a list of repeatedly misspelled words are also provided. Through the reports, teachers can identify students’ needs, track their progress, and personalize instruction in response.
