Ginger FAQ

Features and Operation

Where can I use Ginger to correct texts?
You can correct your text with Ginger when working in MS Word, Outlook and Internet Explorer.
As you type, words with errors are flagged using underline marks (red/green/blue depending on the error type - spelling/grammar/misused word).
To correct a flagged word, simply right click it and select the suggestion you prefer.
What types of mistakes can Ginger correct and how are they marked?
  • Ginger detects misspelled words and marks them in red.
  • Ginger identifies split words and marks them in red. For example, Ginger will identify the error in the sentence "I went in side" and will correct it to "I went inside".
  • Ginger identifies words that are misused contextually even when their spelling is correct. For example, in the sentence "Were are you"?, standard spell checkers would fail to detect the error. Ginger, on the other hand, flags the word by marking Were in blue and suggests Where as the correct alternative.
  • Ginger detects and corrects a wide range of grammar errors. Those are marked in green. For example, in the sentence "Don't sit at the floor", Ginger identifies and flags the wrong preposition and suggests "on" as the correction.
I wrote an invalid word but I still can't see Gingers' corrections
As Ginger is a contextual spell checker, sentences are marked only when the sentence is "ready":
  • After typing in an "end of sentence" mark like '.', '?', or '!' followed by spaces.
  • After modifying an exiting sentence and placing the caret outside the sentence.
I changed a sentence and Ginger's corrections disappeared
As Ginger is a contextual spell checker, when a sentence is modified, the correction marks are removed. Once you place the caret outside the sentence, it is re-Gingered and if errors are found they are flagged.
I can't see Ginger corrections
