Ginger Chrome Web Extension

Great news everyone!
Ginger is proud to publicly release a Chrome web extension today. In line with our efforts to improve Ginger’s product and services, the new Chrome extension allows Ginger to be used on emails and social media such as Facebook. Users of the Chrome web-browser are able to install the extension on any platform supported by Chrome (Mac, Win, Linux).

Download the extension from the Chrome Web Store: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/kdfieneakcjfaiglcfcgkidlkmlijjnh

In addition, Safari and Firefox standalone extensions are currently in the works and will be released soon. For our loyal Mac users, these extensions move us one step towards integrating Ginger Software with the Mac.

We hope you’ll enjoy this new feature and help us spread the word to your family and friends!

With great pleasure,
The Ginger Team

Hi Collin, the Chrome extension of Ginger should run on Gmail.
We’ve uploaded a video link for more info on how to utilize the extension best: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrVzuYtSIOU.

Do check if Ginger Software is opened and running when you press F2. If you still encounter the same problem, then it is most likely a technical issue. Kindly drop us a message on our technical support page and we’ll resolve your issue asap.

Hi Bianca, we don’t have the whole software being compatible with Mac yet, but we do have a Chrome extension that runs on the platforms of Linux/Mac/Windows. We’ll let everyone know when a Mac version is released. =)

The Chrome extension is a wonderful addition. What sets GINGER apart is the ability to offer words with definitions… This allows one to work out the right word on the spot.

As far as I can tell, this feature is missing from the extension.

Do you plan to make this a part of the extension soon or have you decided to not include it?

Hi Bill, we have no concrete plans of adding this feature on the extension as of now. But we’re always receiving feedback, and it could be possible to have this feature added to the extension if it serves to benefit our users. Thanks for the feedback!

This pop-up for ginger shows up on every page I go to. Is there any way to get rid of this thing? I am sick of clicking it out of the way all the time. I am about ready to get rid of google altogether. Sickening! Jerks!

Hi we’re sorry to hear that, however we only offer Ginger as a Safari and Chrome extension for Mac users and this is free. Where did you download this from? Our website?

Is the Chrome free to both Mac and Windows users? How about Safari? Is it already working?

Is Ginger free in both Safari and Chrome? Does it work in both Windows and Macs? I noticed that after downloading the extension, my Chrome “freezes” where the cursor is no longer blinking and I can’t write on my gmail.

      Hi Wallace!
Ginger is free for both Safari and Chrome. Ginger supports all browsers on Mac, however on PC we also support MS-Office.
As for the Curser issue, we’d appreciate if you could send us your contact details so our team will be able to help.
      Thank you!

It asks me to save something when I go to install the add-on and then when i save it somewhere it gives me this error: “Download was not a valid extension or user script”. I have tried saving the .CRX file that it asks me to save in several different places including the extensions folder of the Chrome files and it still gives me that same error. Any idea what could be causing this? I really want to get Ginger installed on Chrome because the current spell check is so horrid.
