Word Wednesday

Today’s word is BILLIONAIRE.

Billionaire: (noun) A very rich person whose material wealth is valued at more than a billion dollars.

Most of us would have heard of this term but for some of us who are mathematically-challenged, 1 billion is equivalent to 1000 million:

1 billion = 1,000 million = 1,000,000,000

Now that’s 9 zeros in the figure, or if that’s too many numbers for you to bother, one billion is a very, very huge sum.

Remember those times when one would fantasize about having a million dollars? Well, neither do I because these days, we hear more of Travie McCoy’s “Billionaire” than Barenaked Ladies’ “If I had a million dollars“.

Enjoy the middle of the week, everyone!
