Is text messaging bad for the English language?

Onlineschools.com published an interesting infographic portraying the current English language as affected by text messaging.

What do you think? Is this the beginning of the end for the English language as we know?

    Is there a significance between “texting” and Gregg Shorthand?
    During the 50′s, while we were still in High School, we were offered a course in an abbreviated version of Gregg Shorthand to help us in taking notes in college.
